Some of you have asked how we are going to run our own union. The great news is that we don’t have to. We have engaged with a group of labour relations professionals from Pacific LR Services Inc. (PLR) to assist us with all of the details, from the raid of Local 40 to representing us into the future. The difference between Local 40 and this model is that PLR works for us! They are accountable to us! And they don’t have an agenda that isn’t our agenda.
PLR partners with unions and employee associations to provide responsible worker advocacy services.
The Sheraton Airport Hotel was once a great place to work and we want to bring a positive culture back to the workplace, where:
1. Employees are treated with dignity and respect
2. There is a positive dispute resolution process so that employees feel well represented
3. There is mutual accountability between the employees and the employer
4. The union is working for its members and responds to its member's wishes
